Erika Flory and Colleen Puckett started Liverpool Yarns in 2014 with three fleeces and a dream. Based in Philadelphia, we keep our sourcing and processing local. We buy our fleeces from farmers in upstate Pennsylvania, and work closely with a woman-owned mill in York, PA to process and spin our fiber to our specifications.
Our yarns are 100% Shetland wool, natural and undyed. We marry the rustic simplicity of our natural yarn to sophisticated, well constructed designs for the contemporary hand knitter. Our designs show equally well on a hike in the Lehigh Valley or on a city stroll through Rittenhouse Square.
Erika was taught to knit by her grandmother at an early age, and her passion for fiber and needles has only grown. Erika has been designing for more than 25 years for major yarn companies, online knitting magazines and her own line of patterns on Ravelry. Her designs range from baby and childrenswear to accessories and clothing for adults. Erika’s patterns are notable for their simple sophistication and use of shape, texture and color. Not a day goes by that she doesn’t have yarn and needles in hand.
Colleen Puckett was taught to knit in 2001 by her son’s third grade teacher. She has been knitting ever since. She especially enjoys playing with color, learning new techniques, and refining her skills. Puckett, an administrator at a PK-12 Quaker school in Philadelphia, teaches beginning knitting to adults at her school.
